Inventory: Mascara and Brow Pencils

Wish I'd tossed some of the mascaras that are way past their prime before doing this post, then I'd just be left with enough new mascara for the next two years...

...if I am sensible enough to open and use only one every three months. My biggest mascara issue is smudging, so no matter how full my lashes look with a mascara, if it smudges on me, I ditch it. And by ditch, I mean toss it back in the drawer and try a new one. I end up with a few unloved tubes cluttering my drawers until my next seasonal makeup purge.

  1. Face of Australia Impact-curl Extreme Volume & Curl Mascara (in use) - will be reviewed soon as I love it and it pretty much lives up to its claims.
  2. Benefit BadGal Lash (in use) - big bold lashes, but smudges a bit.
  3. L'Oreal Impact Curl Collagene Curl-Fixing Volume Mascara (in use) - I like this, but it has been neglected after receiving the FOA mascara.
  4. CoverGirl Professional Natural Lash Clear Mascara (old) - makes my lashes shiny when freshly applied, but does nothing for my lashes when dry.
  5. Maybelline Full 'N Soft Mascara (old) - I love how natural it looks and feels, but it smudges on me.
  6. Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Lash Extending Treatment Mascara (old) - Must not be good cos I can't remember how this looks and wears on me.
  7. CoverGirl NatureLuxe Water-Resistant Mousse Mascara (1 old, 2 back ups) - The closest I have to a holy grail product. Full, non-clumpy lashes without any smudging. It's a pretty wet formula so it may smudge a little when I apply it, but once it dries it does not budge until I wash it off with warm water.
  8. DiorShow Iconic Mascara (new) - part of a Dior palette which I still have not used!
  9. Maybelline Define-A-Lash Volume Mascara (new) - a gift from my MIL
  10. Rimmel X10 Volume Mascara Flash (new) - from a Priceline goodie bag
  11. Prestige My Blackest Lashes Intense Black Volume Mascara (new) - from a Priceline goodie bag
  12. L'Oreal Lash Architect 4D (new) - part of a gift set

Five brow pencils is more than too much for me, but searching for the right shade led me to have five brow pencils.

  1. Prestige My Brow Pen Brow Marker Tattoo Effect - Quite strong for everyday wear, and a tad too warm brown for my brows.
  2. Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown - Also a bit warm brown.
  3. Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Black Brown - A tad too dark.
  4. Revlon ColorStay Brow Enhancer in Light Brown Tinted Wax and Champagne Highlighter - Though the tinted wax is too light, I quite like the highlighter bit as a quick eyeshadow.
  5. Scandal Auto Type Eye Brow Pencil in Dark Brown x2 - I love this pencil. I have one at work and one at home. It's a dark ashy brown shade that's good for daily wear, I don't need to sharpen it, and it comes with a mascara wand that's great for softening my pencilled brows. What more could I possibly want with a brow pencil? Another HG for me, though I'm not sure the Asian shop I bought it from has any left.

  1. Cannot wait for the FOA mascara review, even the tube looks funky in that purple shade. I have a whole bunch of unopened mascaras in my collection as well, really need to get stuck into them!

  3. Wowee Jos, you DO have a lot of mascaras! But, you're reasoning for doing so totally makes sense - mascara is soo tricky to find one that works. I'm still on the hunt, like many others :S It's too bad so many smudge on you...I don't have that problem so I can't even suggest any to try, unfortunately! Good luck on the hunt :)

    1. I do have a lot though 8 of them were GWPs or part of sets, and I need to throw 4 out for being way past the 3-month mark. Good luck on your search, looks like your mascara priorities are different from mine :)
