Goodbye GlossyBox

Dear GlossyBox,

Can you blame me for saying goodbye so soon?

  • e.l.f. Lip Gloss - Wow, it's so great to finally receive a high-end brand (not). And didn't you just send me lip gloss last month?
  • Langois Olive Lip Balm - Two lip products in one box? Brilliant.
  • Proactiv Deep Cleansing Wash - I specified dry skin and anti-ageing concerns on my profile, so thanks for wanting to make it even drier and age sooner.
  • Spongeables Bath Sponge Infused with Shower Gel - Bath product, meh.
  • Star and Rose Nail Files - I've learned from nail gurus that glass nail files are the way to go, so I have no use for these
If last month was underwhelming, this month is a total disappointment, particularly after all the hype surrounding this Valentine Box. I might as well blow my $15 subscription fee on e.l.f. products online. At least I get to pick the products and the colours.

So thanks for the short, not so fun ride. I can only be conned for so long.

  1. Jeez, that's a pretty terrible selection. I heard that other people got nicer products, so looks like you got ripped off!

  2. Wow, I can't get over how crappy that is! Especially since they have been spamming my inbox with emails about how I should rejoin because the February box was going to be soooo fantastic. It's like something that would come free with the Woman's Day.

    1. I hope they don't spam me. Customer service was good though. They refunded the $3 discount I was supposed to get even after I've canceled my subscription. But the items are so crappy, I don't think I could even pass them on to anyone. I'll try the lip products. But the bath sponge/gel doesn't even smell nice.

  3. Damn, this is a crappy box. I tried a Luxe Box and wasn't too impressed. I think the problem for these box people is keeping the items on an even scale from month to month, subscriber to subscriber. ELF is a definite deal breaker, though. What the heck were they thinking?

    1. I've unsubscribed to both boxes now. I've freed up my two items for much more exciting purchases! Huzzah!

  4. From what I have read on the reviews of these boxes, I don't know why people are so fussy for $15!!!! They are SAMPLE boxes and will have things in there that you never would probably buy!

    1. Thanks for dropping by. Just to clear up the confusion, people are fussy because these companies promise 4 to 5 high end samples each month and they send out stuff from the clearance bin of drug store brands.

  5. The Dutch Valentine Box was soooooo much better.. there was even a (delicious) perfume in it! I don't know why your box is so crappy.. I think they ran out of luxe items or something.. You can ask others who received the Valentine box too. Maybe they've got a better box!
