Pattern: McCalls 5927 View B Dress
Fabric: A slightly stiff quilting fabric from Lincraft
Date made: 2-12 January 2012
Hours spent: 10 hours (yes, I'm incredibly slow.)
Date first worn: Planning to wear it on Monday, 16 January 2012
Sew again? Definitely. This was only a practice run.
Recommended? Yes, it's a classic simple dress that's easy to sew. Love the pockets!
Sizing and alterations: Size 8 top, 10 bottom plus a narrow back adjustment took about 2 inches off. I didn't bother rechecking my size, and the bodice ended up being too small in the waist so I removed the back darts and that worked fine.
Instructions: Very easy to follow.
Preparation: Machine washed. I still worry it will shrink.
Construction: Laziness called for a centre zip, and bias bound neck and armholes (no lining). All edges were finished with an overlocker.
Conclusion: It looks fine, though the drape could be better. I must find the courage to cut into my nice fabric stash before they get moth holes (must remember to stick camphor in my fabric stash storage.)
