I’ve been toying with the idea of going to makeup school for a few months now, and I’ve finally enrolled in a Certificate II course at AoM. It starts in February 2012, and I plan to blog about the experience.
Before that I signed up for a personal makeup course with TMT. I already knew most of what they taught, in theory. But it’s great that there’s someone actually guiding me, instead of trying to follow someone on youtube, and not knowing whether I did something right or not. They also included a good set of brushes for the class, which they did not mention we were going to get so that was a nice surprise.
Unfortunately, I did not get a pic of myself getting my makeup done on the day as I was too excited trying out ridiculously pigmented Le Femme blushes. Instead, here are some photos of their classroom.
I like their setup, the lighting, the outdoor area, the way they provide tissues, paper towels and hair dryers for class use. I like that they’re located in the CBD. I like the instructors. I would’ve enrolled here if they did an after-hours Certificate II class.
Sadly, they only have full-time Cert IV and Diploma classes. A lot of other makeup schools also don’t offer part-time or after-hours classes. Then there were others that start a lot later than February, and would cut in on some holidays planned mid next year. So my decision was pretty much based on the class schedule.
So that’s how I ended up enrolling at AoM. I think it’s a good school, and it’s less expensive than other schools. It’s just not very convenient for me to be racing across town after work on Tuesdays and Wednesday nights, carrying a load of stuff like tissues, paper towels and other disposables which they don’t provide. But I am hoping I’ll love it anyway. :)
