My Sewing Space(s) and My Scissors Gripe

I resolved to "read more and blog more" in 2011. While I am failing miserably on the read more part, I figured that since I have 10 posts in January, I should aim for 10 in February as well.

There has been quite a few changes since my first post on SewJosa which was all about my sewing space (not much has changed with the cat, she's still super cute!)

Main sewing machine (in living area next to FH's desk):

Fabric stash:

Overlocker (inside the guest room, also the pressing room):

Sadly, I did not get any photos with Scampi the cat. Naturally, she's right next or on top of whatever it is I am currently doing sewing-wise. I just haven't managed to take a shot of her. But rest assured she's around. After all, as a sewing enthusiast, I have cat and I can't end the post without a Scampi shot. So here's my excuse for not making the bed:

The Scissors Gripe

As suggested by most sewing books, I "invested" in a pair of nut and bolt, heavy stainless steel scissors. Guess what? It's crap! It's heavy and unwieldly. I hate it. And there's nowhere to have it sharpened in Sydney. A complete waste of $30! Grrr! If I ever do find a shop that sharpens scissors, I doubt it'll be less that $9 which is what I spent on my first fabric scissors. It's not a hot knife through butter, but it is much easier to use than the heavy metals ones.
