This weekend I picked up the Janome MyLock 434D I bought on eBay. It looks immaculate and it seems to sew fine. I did not get to play with it much and still have no idea how to change the stitch type. Unfortunately, the overlocking class this February is all booked out, so I may have to rely on youtube to learn about how to use it.
Sadly, most of my resolutions have fallen by the wayside.
I have slept less hours than ever until this weekend when I crashed and slept from 9pm on Friday and Saturday nights only to be up until 1am on Sunday. I haven't used my bike as much as I wanted. I ate so much -- Lebanese banquet, Chinese New Year feast, Czech pork knuckle. I did not actively participate in any of the challenges or sew along (I still want to do them, but I have taken the badges down as they remind me too much of my failures.)
On the positive side, I managed to make the wedding dress muslin as close as possible to my ideal design. I had my first sewing machine lesson from the Bernina shop. But between the drawstring bags and the pin cushion, there hasn't been a whole lot of sewing.
So what has been taking up my time? We're renovating the kitchen and updating some of our furniture. We've been busy researching kitchens, visiting kitchen showrooms, appliance stores and furniture shops. We're also trying to sell some items on gumtree, and we'll probably need to have a garage sale as well. So far, we haven't sold anything, but we've bought and assembled an Ikea drawer/cabinet and an Ikea TV bench. I also bought an Ikea desk for the overlocker. But I need to sort out the stuff in the spare room to make room for the desk. Yet again, I'm in the process of reorganising my sewing area.
Hopefully, February will bring more sewing, cycling and sleeping time.
